Geoff Taylor (Superb Balladeer)

Geoff Taylor (Superb Balladeer)

With a gentle sense of humour, Geoff oozed class as a man and entertainer, we shared mutual and infinite trust. When offered a booking not once, in 30 years did he utter the Yorkshire war cry “Arrhh much”? He simply replied, “It’s in the book.”

A couple of days before his demise, what sadly was to be the last of our frequent conversations, we shared fond and funny memories. Like many before it was sprinkled with gallows humour.

Me - “Hi son, how are you?”
Geoff - “I’m laying here reflecting on my last gig which, went very well so, content is probably the best description”
Me - “Are you in any pain?”
Geoff - “No, I’m on loads of stuff, sleeping most of the time and shortly I think I’ll just drift off altogether”.
Me - “So! pretty much like your audiences then?”he laughed and said “Sharpey, you never change, do you?”
Me - “No, because if I don’t laugh, I cry, which helps nobody. But you know I love you to bits despite you going to leave me having to find another great cheap singer.

On my final call, Sue answered saying Geoff had passed away just two hours ago, peacefully and in no pain.

He is missed as an entertainer and ten times that as a dear friend.
